Polbeth Community Counselling

Who is this for?

  • Adults 16+ living, working or studying in West Lothian

Who provides this?

  • Polbeth Community Counselling

Description

The counselling service at Polbeth Community Hub is available to adults over the age of 16, living working or studying in West Lothian. Referrals are subject to an initial assessment to assess suitability for the service.  The service is managed by a qualified counsellor; however, we are a placement provider for student counsellors.

It is often hard to speak to family and friends, not wanting to worry them or concerned about feeling judged by them. At these times it can be helpful to speak to someone professionally who will listen and understand and accept us as we are, without judgement.

Counselling gives you the opportunity to find out more about yourself and how to deal with your difficulties. Through listening and responding in a caring, accepting and honest way, the counsellor helps you to explore those difficulties and issues that are troubling you.

How do I access this?

  • Self-referrals are encouraged however we do accept referrals from other local services and work in partnership with Good Connections, West Calder.

Is there a cost?

Currently offering donation-based counselling for those living and working in West Lothian, however we also offer low-cost counselling to those in the rest of Scotland at a cost of £30 per session.

Is there a waiting list?

Yes, waiting times vary and at times we close the waiting list to manage expectations. Please check the website or Facebook page for the latest information or email support@polbeth.org.
